Hong Kong

I was bought on March 2nd, 2009 in Kowloon, Hong Kong. That's where this blog and my journey begins.

It was a Sunday like any other Sunday. I had been sitting on the shelf watching various shoppers walk past my perch, their eyes skipping over me as they scoured the shelves for deals on silk shirts and brocade tissue box covers. I was bored, since this was the way I had spent all my days since arriving in Kowloon and to this shop.
All of a sudden, my companion, a panda with a nice bright pink shirt on, was plucked off the shelf! Oh how lucky that panda was, to at least be considered to go on to a new home. However, she was soon placed next to me again, and I was picked up!
I grinned as much as possible so as to look inviting to my possible purchaser. I had made sure that my shirt was on straight that morning, and even had a nice jade Buddha around my neck for luck.
We were walking now and lots of words about price were being exchanged, this was it! I was being bought!

Soon we had made our way out onto the street. The weather wasn't too bad, nice and warm, but very cloudy. Where would we go first?
My new owner and her companions made their way to the Star Ferry, but not without a quick photo opportunity in front of The Peninsula. The Peninsula hotel opened way back in 1928, and was the first of Hong Kong's hotels. It is truly grand, and tends to cater to the rich and famous. It even has it's own fleet of green Rolls Royce! The hotel was featured in the movie The Dark Knight back in 2007. We took a few more quick pictures in front of the skyline, and I even made a new friend named Ted.

The Star Ferry was a fun ride. The seas were a bit rough that day, but it made the experience much more fun! I even had the chance to take a couple more photos.
We wandered around the island, visiting markets and art galleries, talking to various people, and enjoying the warm weather. Soon it was time to go back to Kowloon as my owner needed to collect her bags so that she could return to the mainland where I would now call home. We took the metro back, as it was the quickest route, collected the bags, had some lunch, then headed on our way.

We didn't have much time in Shenzhen before our train was to leave, so I only got to see the train station. I hope next time I'll get to see more of the industrial city.

I arrived at my new home in Jiujiang, China this morning, and boy am I worn out. A small nap and some bamboo are in order before I begin to explore this new place.

Until next time!
